When geogrid/geomembranes are combined with woven or nonwoven geotextile for specific applicaion like drainage, erosion control,bank embankment,etc. Then they are designed as Geocomposites.

A typical example is bentonite geocomposite.

It consists bentonite filled pores when this geotextile come in contact with water the bentonite causes the pores to swell thereby forming water tight sheets.

Glass fibers are knitted on to the non woven geotextiles to enable better use in highway application.

1. Roadbed reinforcement and soft foundation treatment

It is widely used in the reinforcement of soft soil foundations of highways and railways, and reduces settlement and differential settlement by enhancing the tensile properties of the soil. For example, in road widening projects, it can effectively solve the connection problem between the new and old roadbeds and prevent cracks.

2. Pavement crack resistance and life extension

Laying composite geogrids in asphalt concrete pavements can disperse stress concentration, significantly reduce reflective cracks, cracking and other diseases, and extend the service life of the pavement.

3. Slope protection and retaining wall reinforcement

It is used for highway and railway slopes and reinforced soil retaining walls to prevent landslides and collapses by enhancing soil friction and integrity.

Applying a layer of geotextile on fiberglass with adhesive, the fiberglass composite geotextile has both high tensile strength, low elongation characteristics, and also has the performance of needle punched nonwoven fabric. So, fiberglass composite geotextile can be used for reinforcement, isolation and protection, and has a three-dimensional overall direction and level of good polysoil to abandon the role of water.

Production process

Thermoplastic molding: forming a grid structure through high-temperature molding or ultrasonic welding, such as the rib welding process of steel-plastic grid.

Woven composite: weaving fiber materials (such as glass fiber) with polymer substrates and coating them with resin to enhance durability.

Key performance

High strength: tensile strength can reach 30-200 kN/m, which is better than single material grid.

Corrosion resistance: suitable for engineering scenarios in acidic and alkaline environments or long-term exposure.

Construction and standards

Construction points

When laying, ensure that the base is flat and free of sharp objects, the grid direction is perpendicular to the force direction, and the overlap width is ≥20 cm. Avoid mechanical rolling and direct contact with the grid, and cover the filler before compacting.
